Neurology & Neurosurgery

This service is available at our Akron and Cleveland East locations.

The Neurology and Neurosurgery Service at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital provides comprehensive care for companion animals with neurological conditions. We evaluate, diagnose, and treat a broad array of diseases that either primarily or secondarily affect the nervous system. If your pet is diagnosed with a condition affecting the brain, spinal cord, and/or nerves, we offer both medical and surgical treatment options. In cases where we cannot cure a certain condition, we can help manage the disease to give your pet the best quality of life possible.

Common Conditions We Treat:

  • Intervertebral disk herniation

  • Encephalitis/meningitis

  • Epilepsy and seizure disorders

  • Brain and spinal tumors

  • Vestibular disease

  • Lumbosacral disease/ cauda equine syndrome

  • Degenerative myelopathy

  • Neuromuscular diseases

  • Spinal cord injury

  • Head trauma

Consider scheduling a neurological evaluation if your pet is experiencing neck or back pain, seizures, changes in mentation or personality, balance problems, muscle atrophy, weakness, or tremors.
