Our team of board-certified surgeons and skilled technicians are invested in caring for your pet’s surgical needs. With doctors specializing in soft tissue, oncologic, minimally invasive, and orthopedic surgery, our hospitals offer the knowledge and skill required to handle even the most advanced procedures.
Board-certified veterinary surgeons have mastered techniques and technologies to treat common and more complex surgical problems associated with soft tissue and orthopedic abnormalities. In addition to undergraduate training and four years of veterinary school, they complete an internship and residency in their specialized field, an additional three to five years of training. This is followed by a rigorous examination from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Passing this examination grants the status of Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgery (DACVS).
In addition, understanding your concern for your pet, we aim to alleviate any apprehension by keeping you well-informed throughout your pet’s stay in the hospital. The surgery department is generally in the hospital from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturdays (for releases at Akron only). The hospital is open and fully staffed 24 hours a day, offering your pet around-the-clock care and attention.
